Recently we took a 145 mile loop, through Rowan, Bath, Montgomery, Powell, Wolfe, Menifee, counties. We took our time and it took the better part of a day. Roads were in pretty good shape, not too many pot holes or anything like that. I would be on the look out for loose gravel, cars stopped in blind curves, and farm equipment at all times during this ride.
Johnny's Repair is really more of a For Your Information kind of place. Just in case you have some sort of minor mechanical problem or just need an oil change. Johnny's is also near a church with a big parking lot good for a nice break.
Kathy's Country Kitchen Was a great local spot in Clay City, KY, where you step through the doors to review a warm greeting from a pretty girl or maybe even a few, and an over abundance of ALE 8 1. The food is of the sit down pull a seat up to the table variety. If you're in a hurry I wouldn't recommend Kathy's, because Kathy's isn't fast food, you want to sit back and savor every bite from first to last. The parking lot has plenty of parking for even a larger group of motorcyclist, just be careful pulling in because Kathy's is right next to a 3 way stop light, and there are no lines on the parking lot so it can lead to confusion very quickly between cars and motorcycles.
The Gas station in Campton is just a gas station no more, no less, but you're going to be glad to see it as your bike is about to start running on fumes, and you need a Gatorade.
The Gas Station on KY1274 is a local bait shop with a giant landmark that happens to be a large bull. It's also a great place to pull off and stretch your legs for a bit.
The View of Cave Run is a great pull off for Motorcycles and cars alike to stop and unwind after a long trip. it's also a great place to let the sun go down and the moon to come up.
This is our route:
