Ashland, Patty's Loop (136 Miles)

This was a great evening to late night summer ride. passing by Grayson Lake and winding through the back roads of north-eastern Kentucky, leading us strait to a fine little restaurant/bar called Fat Patty's in downtown Ashland.

Fat Patty's is a great little place to stop, nice atmosphere, The pigskins are a must try (halved potatoes stuffed with pork BBQ and covered with cheese and onions with sour cream on the side to dip them in.) and if you stop at patty's I highly recommend the Raspberry Popper Burger (cream cheese, jalapenos, and raspberry jam) or the Peppercorn (peppered burger) with an order of the best fries I've ever eaten, all washed down with a Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy.

After Fat Patty's there's the Jolly Pirate donuts shop right down the street and it's also a must visit, that is if you can still hold one after Fat Patty's I tend to get a box and take home for the next day.

After Jolly Pirates we get on US 60 and have a nice night ride on a country road for an alternative to I64

Paragon Loop (27 Miles)

The Paragon Loop is one of my favorite short rides in the Morehead area. The Paragon loop is highly customizable, although this is about as short as you can make this ride. Paragon offers what I believe to be one of the most scenic sort rides there is in the Morehead area. You start out on KY 519 and ride to Paragon, where you will find approximately  5 miles of water (sometimes on both sides of the road) with a ton of stopping points, followed by Jones Ridge Hill. Jones Ridge Hill is very steep, very narrow, and pretty long (also with the occasional moss growing on it because it stays damp so Be Careful!!!). Jones Ridge Hill Leads to Jones Ridge, you climb from some of the lowest points to some of the highest points in this area in a matter of seconds. Jones Ridge is mostly farm land and it's a pleasant ride with lots of grand views. Soon you will come into Nichols Branch, about a half mile to a mile in you will come to Nichols Branch Hill again
very steep, very narrow, pretty long, and gravel on the road sometimes (again Be Careful!!!). After Nichols you're back to dry creek and on to Morehead.

Sorry no good food on this ride, Fast food will have to do...

Things To Keep In Mind On This Ride:
Loose gravel
Dogs
Farm animals
Farm Equipment
One lane roads on steep hills
Pot holes
Flooding

Kathy's And The Gorge (145 Miles)

Recently we took a 145 mile loop, through Rowan, Bath, Montgomery, Powell, Wolfe, Menifee, counties. We took our time and it took the better part of a day. Roads were in pretty good shape, not too many pot holes or anything like that. I would be on the look out for loose gravel, cars stopped in blind curves, and farm equipment at all times during this ride.

Johnny's Repair is really more of a For Your Information kind of place. Just in case you have some sort of minor mechanical problem or just need an oil change. Johnny's is also near a church with a big parking lot good for a nice break.

Kathy's Country Kitchen Was a great local spot in Clay City, KY, where you step through the doors to review a warm greeting from a pretty girl or maybe even a few, and an over abundance of ALE 8 1. The food is of the sit down pull a seat up to the table variety. If you're in a hurry I wouldn't recommend Kathy's, because Kathy's isn't fast food, you want to sit back and savor every bite from first to last. The parking lot has plenty of parking for even a larger group of motorcyclist, just be careful pulling in because Kathy's is right next to a 3 way stop light, and there are no lines on the parking lot so it can lead to confusion very quickly between cars and motorcycles.

The Gas station in Campton is just a gas station no more, no less, but you're going to be glad to see it as your bike is about to start running on fumes, and you need a Gatorade.

The Gas Station on  KY1274 is a local bait shop with a giant landmark that happens to be a large bull. It's also a great place to pull off and stretch your legs for a bit.

The View of Cave Run is a great pull off for Motorcycles and cars alike to stop and unwind after a long trip. it's also a great place to let the sun go down and the moon to come up.

This is our route:
