Blue Licks Ride (127 Miles)

This ride is a nice medium north central Kentucky ride, touching on lots of cattle and tobacco farms, with many rolling hills, and on the south western end touches back into horse country. On this ride you can stop buy Blue Licks Battlefield as well, one of Kentucky's many state parks. Blue Licks was the site of one of the last battles of the Revolutionary War. We just happen to ride by while they were having their Battle of Blue Licks celebration, there were reenactors and booths to buy things from. The celebration takes place in mid-August every year.

Things to keep in mind on this ride:
Loose Gravel
Farm Equipment

Holly Fork, Haldeman Loop (34 Miles)

The Holly Fork, Haldeman Loop is a really nice quick ride for anyone in the Morehead Kentucky area. There are lots of nice long curves and long country roads leading past lots of farm land and forest. Something to keep in mind on this road are deer, my buddy and myself actually came across a woman who had slammed into a deer on our ride.

I like to call this ride the Eastern Kentucky sampler ride because it encompasses most of the different type rides you're going to find around this region, lots of mountain roads, farmland, and rolling hills. Lots of scenic views to stop and enjoy in Daniel Boone National Forest.

Things to keep in mind:
Farm equipment
Sharp uphill curves
Loose Gravel

Thoroughbred Scenic Byway (More Backroads) (170 Miles)

This ride has additional backroads compared to the original, more one lane roads and lots of scenic views of farm land going from the tobacco/cattle/homestead farms in the east to Kentucky's thoroughbred farms on the west end of this ride. You can also see Kentucky's stone fences on many parts of the ride. There are any number of great places to eat along this right, just pick one and you can't go wrong. We usually choose to eat at Windy Corner Market on this ride.

Things to look out for:
One lane Roads
Slow moving farm equipment
Farm/wild animals
Loose gravel
Crazy drivers (in some parts)
Crossing US 27 (it's a split lane road)
